Watch Jamillia Kaye’s reflection on ROOTED, legacy and creativity in this feature by WQED Pittsburgh as part of their Voice of the Arts series.

r00ted exhibition

ROOTED is a deeply personal poetry capsule collection and audio-visual photo exhibition by Jamillia Kaye, created in loving tribute to her late friend of 21 years, Alicia Anglin. This exhibition marked the launch of Jamillia’s third poetry capsule collection, also titled ROOTED. The collection features four handcrafted 5x7 letterpress poetry prints, each exploring a different grounding force: new beginnings, mentorship, kinship, and eternal love. Curated by Audra Lee, the exhibition brings these themes to life through a powerful blend of: portrait photography, short audio reflections from 13 community leaders rooted in creativity, and original letterpress poetry prints. Together, they explore the intersections of grief, joy, memory, and the power of creative healing. The first installment was hosted on September 21st, 2025 and featured 13 leaders, listed below.
