Originally from West Philadelphia with roots in Liberia, West Africa, Jamillia Kamara Covington is a values-driven steward, writer, speaker and strategist who specializes in meeting individuals and communities where they are, identifying high leverage opportunities and building collaborative relationships that center undeniable results.
While she has been a writer since she can remember, poetry is her favorite medium.
Creatively, she uses the handle Jamillia Kaye.
Jamillia is driven by a love of culture and community and has professional experiences that span from the classroom to the boardroom.
She is a reflective learner at heart, a creative thinker and a problem solver.
Through her writing, Jamillia invites readers to authentically grapple with power, self-doubt, perfectionism, the opportunity to cultivate a growth practice rooted in vulnerability - a trait she has resisted but come to respect - and dreams of a world with space for each of us to revel in.
To date, she has released two capsule poetry collections - Community Care (sold out) and BLOOM - each printed on a 100-year-old letterpress. They were a labor of love.
Jamillia welcomes the opportunity to collaborate on a creative experience that meets your team’s needs.
